Unity, Education and a Strong Democracy are the Foundations of a Developed India
Jamia Arifia, August 15, 2026: The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated at Jamia Arifia with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a strong sense of national pride. A large number of teachers and students participated in the programme and paid tribute to the freedom fighters who made sacrifices for India's independence, while expressing their resolve for the peace, stability and progress of the country.
The programme commenced with the Jamia anthem, presented by the Saeedi Brothers. This was followed by the flag-hoisting ceremony, which was conducted with due respect and dignity. The Patron of Jamia, Hazrat Arif Billah Sheikh Abu Saeed Shah Ehsanullah Muhammadi Safawi, hoisted the Tricolour. Teachers and students stood in respect of the National Flag and collectively sang the National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana. The entire atmosphere was filled with a strong sense of national unity and patriotism.
The Saeedi Brothers then presented a beautiful patriotic composition highlighting India's intellectual, spiritual, cultural and historical grandeur. Through the rendition “Mera Watan Wahi Hai, Mera Watan Wahi Hai”, they expressed their love for the motherland.
Addressing the gathering, Jamia Arifia teacher Maulana Muhammad Zaki said that the independent India in which people live today is the result of the long struggle and sacrifices of their forefathers and the freedom fighters. He said that during the British rule, Indians faced economic exploitation, heavy taxation, famines, racial discrimination and political repression, while the policy of “divide and rule” created differences and divisions even among people who had previously lived together in love, peace and brotherhood.
Maulana Zaki further said that attaining independence was only one stage of the struggle, and that the real responsibility now lies in building and developing the country. He observed that India cannot progress if its people spend their energies on hatred, conflict and disputes among themselves. Just as a family divided by internal differences cannot prosper, a fragmented society cannot move forward. He stressed that unity, democracy, education and moral values must be promoted to strengthen the country, and that the younger generation should be nurtured as responsible citizens who contribute to peace, brotherhood and national development.
The programme was efficiently conducted by Dr. Maulana Mojibur Rahman Alimi. Jamia Arifia Manager Mr. Sajid Sayeedi Burhani, along with the team of Jamiyat-al-Talaba, played a leading role in the overall arrangements and management of the event.
All the teachers of Jamia Arifia attended the programme. Those present included, notably, Naazim-e-Aala Maulana Sheikh Hasan Saeed Safawi, Principal Allama Imran Habibi, Vice Principal Mufti Muhammad Kitabuddin Razvi and CEO of Shahi Products Sheikh Hussain Saeed Safawi.
At the conclusion of the programme, Hazrat Arif Billah Sheikh Abu Saeed Shah Ehsanullah Mohammadi Safawi offered a special Dua. The Independence Day celebrations concluded with a Dua for the country's safety, peace and stability, national unity, mutual love, and India's continued progress and prosperity.
