Twenty-Six Competitive Events Organised on the Occasion of “Ghazali Day” This Year

Jamia Arifia is a distinguished religious and educational institution that represents a harmonious blend of traditional religious sciences and modern disciplines, serving as a refined centre for intellectual development, moral reform, and character-building. While the institution provides students with a strong academic and intellectual foundation, it also places special emphasis on nurturing their hidden and additional talents. With this objective in mind, Jamia Arifia regularly organises academic, intellectual, and cultural activities.

Continuing this tradition, under the auspices of the students’ organisation, Jamiyat al-Talaba, the eighteenth annual academic, intellectual, and cultural programme was held this year with great enthusiasm on the occasion of “Ghazali Day.” A total of twenty-six competitive events were organised, including written and oral competitions; speeches in Urdu, Arabic, and Persian; debates; Qur’an memorisation; Hadith memorisation; Tajweed and Qira’at; Qur’anic quiz; Arabic conversation; essay writing; art competitions; and several other diverse academic and educational activities. This purely academic, intellectual, and cultural programme commenced on 4 December 2025 and successfully concluded on 13 December 2025.

This year’s academic debate focused on the topic, “Artificial Intelligence: Poison or Cure?” The discussion was conducted in a serious, well-reasoned, and high-standard manner, with students demonstrating remarkable intellectual maturity.

On the morning of 13 December, the concluding session of “Ghazali Day,” titled the Prize Distribution Ceremony, was held. Shields, certificates, and books were awarded to the students who secured positions in the competitive events by the Patron of Jamia, the revered spiritual guide, ‘Arif Billah Sheikh Abu Sa‘eed (may his blessings endure), along with the chief guest, Mr Salahuddin Usmani. On this occasion, Jamiyat al-Talaba also presented its annual “Nishan-e-Mawaddat” Award to an active and dynamic alumnus of Jamia Arifia. This year, the honour was bestowed upon Dr Syed Qamar-ul-Islam in recognition of his academic, social, and educational services.

In his address, Dr Qamar-ul-Islam delivered a comprehensive speech highlighting the responsibilities of madrasa graduates, their effective role in society, and the contemporary demands of the modern age in the light of the Prophetic biography (Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ). Drawing upon verses from the Holy Qur’an and the form and spirit of prayer, he emphasised the importance of righteous leadership, national service, public welfare, the eradication of poverty, patience and contentment, and regular observance of prayers.

The concluding Prize Distribution Ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Qur’an and devotional poetry in praise of the Prophet ﷺ. Students who secured first positions in Urdu, Arabic, and Persian delivered their speeches. The session was presided over by Hazrat Maulana Hasan Saeed Safawi, while the duties of the master of ceremonies were performed by Maulana Anjum Rahi Azhari, a teacher at Jamia Arifia. The success of the programme was made possible through the continuous guidance and support of the Administrator of Jamia, Mr Sajid Saeedi Burhani, the devoted patronage of the Principal, Hazrat Allama Imran Saquafi, and the sincere efforts of all respected teachers. Notably, the driving force behind “Ghazali Day” was the students’ organisation, Jamiyat al-Talaba. Its current Ameer, Muhammad Nizamuddin (Fazilat, First Year), along with his team, efficiently managed all administrative arrangements, logistics, and prize distribution with commendable dedication.
